This was the original farmstead on the site and probably dates back to the 1750's. Then it would have consisted of a working farm kitchen downstairs and a bed room upstairs. The cottage has been tastefully brought up to date and now has all modern fittings in the kitchen and bath room.
The original character features of the cottage though have been preserved. These include the original bread oven and adjacent cooking fire place, now housing a cast-iron heating stove which gives a cosy warm glow to the lounge, as shown in the photograph above. Other original features include the old beams, the winding stone stairs, and exposed stonework walls. Downstairs there is a cosy lounge with an adjacent dining area able to seat six.
There is a well equipped
kitchen with oven/hob, microwave, washing machine and all the usual fixtures and fittings. The
bathroom has a modern suite with wc, wash basin, bath and shower.
The multi fuel stove in the lounge runs radiators in all rooms and provides a plentiful supply of hot
water to the kitchen, bathroom and wash basins. All fuel and all linen is provided, with the linen
being changed weekly if your stay is longer.
The first floor accommodation houses two bedrooms (please visit the next page for more details)
and has a cupboard well stocked with games etc. If required one of the adjacent bed and breakfast
rooms can also be hired with the cottage as there is ample ground floor space for all. This will also
give an additional bathroom and is useful if you have a relative accompanying you on your holiday.
Please visit the bed and breakfast pages for more information on these rooms.
