Stouphill Gate is a traditional old Cumbrian
farmstead, consisting of the old original farmhouse
believed to be about 250 years old and the newer,
only 150 years old, farmhouse where the owners
now live. The property is so named as it stands just
below the brow of Stoup Hill. This elevation means
the property enjoys spectacular views across the
countryside.
The holiday cottage is located in the old farmhouse
which is full of character as the photographs show.
The bed and breakfast accommodation is located
adjacent to this and so can be hired with the cottage
if additional accommodation is required. All the
accommodation has been carefully brought up to date
whilst retaining all the best features of the original
farmhouse, and the owners are careful to maintain
the high standards of decor set during the
refurbishment. In order to keep these high standards
we operate a no smoking and no pets policy.
The cottage has two bedrooms and can sleep up to
five, while the bed and breakfast rooms each have a
double bed. The ground floor room is fully wheel-
chair accessible. There is a separate quiet lounge /
breakfast room for bed and breakfast guests. Please
see the individual pages for each of the separate
areas of the holiday accommodation.
All our guests can be assured of a warm friendly welcome, homemade cake and tea or coffee await our bed and breakfast arrivals while the cottagers will also be greeted with homemade cake and complimentary tea/coffee to brew themselves. In the winter there will also be a warm fire awaiting in the cottage. Being adjacent to the holiday accommodation the owners are happy to offer help and suggestions to all visitors during their stay and are flexible over arrivals, even if you don't know what time that will be! Please visit the 'visitors comments ' page to read what former visitors have written in our visitors books.
